Our Living Universe
Julian Hart
I originally trained in chemistry (BSc Hons 2.1 from Bristol University), obtained an MSc in Environmental Pollution Science from Brunel University and spent four years researching a Doctorate of Engineering in Environmental Technology at the University of Surrey. I spent my early career working for Ove Arup & Partners, a major engineering design firm, and have been a visiting professor to various major universities including Harvard, MIT, University College London and the Unversity of Oxford. I spent my later working career in the world of urban regeneration, obtaining planning permissions for major development projects in and around London (summing to almost ten thousand homes), championed good housing design and written a published book on urban design theory - Towns and Cities: Function in Form. I remain a development manager and planning consultant within the London property market.
The ideas within this manuscript challenge our thinking in many areas. No professional academic would dare write about so many fields outside of their expertise. But my motto is: if we don’t explore alternative possibilities, we will never truly learn.
